Dear Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Member,

Create a light display, get game tickets

“Light Up! Downtown” this November and you will automatically be off to see a game. The team over at True North Sports + Entertainment have offered up four Manitoba Moose tickets for each business that participates. We will also draw one participating business to receive a pair of loge seats to a Winnipeg Jets home game!

On November 13, a 20-foot tree will be installed and lit in the plaza at True North Square on the corner of Graham Avenue and Hargrave Street. We hope to see as many downtown businesses as possible participate in illuminating the city’s core for the holiday season!

Get involved:

  1. Create a decorative light display. This could be holiday lights, string lights, electric candles – anything that provides added decoration (in other words, it can’t be your existing lighting).

  2. Take a photo of it and send it to us by email at info@downtownwinnipegbiz.com. Make sure to include your first and last name and the email address where you would like to receive the tickets (e-tickets only).

  3. We’ll connect with you about getting your Moose tickets and alert the winner of the final draw later in November.

  4. We encourage you to also share your displays on social media and tag the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ (@downtownwpgbiz on Twitter and Instagram, or downtownwinnipegbiz on Facebook)!

Details:

• Contest runs until November 13, the date of the tree-lighting.

• Light display can be indoors or outdoors

• Only one set of four Manitoba Moose tickets per business.

• One Jets game ticket entry per business

We can’t wait to see you light up downtown!

November is a busy month for in-person events downtown. This could mean more Winnipeggers dining at downtown restaurants, shopping at downtown stores and watching games at downtown bars.

Remember, if you want a promotion through November to help attract customers, we want to help you promote it through our marketing channels (the Mingle e-newsletter, website, social media) to help encourage shopping, dining and enjoying downtown..

Here are some promo ideas:

• A meal special (e.g. a burger and a beer at a discounted price)

• Themed meals (e.g. a “Slapshot Sampler Platter”)

• Game day discounts

• Complimentary event parking in your lot for eating dinner at your restaurant/shopping at your store (if applicable)

• Expanded hours during game days (if applicable)

Send our Marketing & Communications Coordinator an email (saz@downtownwinnipegbiz.com) with your promo so we can add it to our upcoming November promos webpage. Tag us in your social media posts/Stories and we will do our best to spread the word.

• 6 concerts at the Burton Cummings Theatre

• 2 MB Opera concerts at the Centennial Concert Hall (Nov. 5 & 6)

• Satinder Sartaaj concert at the Centennial Concert Hall (Nov. 14)

• Beethoven’s Fifth & Crozman Plays Elgar by WSO at the Centennial Concert Hall (Nov. 20)

• City & Colour concert at the Centennial Concert Hall (Nov. 30)

• Nightly plays at Prairie Theatre Exchange & Royal MTC
