Manitoba Startups Win at Canadian Financing Forum

MacDonald and Keizer

Winnipeg startups PriceRazzi and Sightline Innovation led the way at this year's Canadian Financing Forum, which ended yesterday in Vancouver. PriceRazzi was first place winner in CFF's Startup Spotlight, while Sightline Innovation placed first in the ICT category.

Declan MacDonald, founder of PriceRazzi, also first place winner at last year's VentureChallenge was excited to be presenting at CFF, which brings together strategic corporate, M&A, and venture capital investors from across the US and Canada.

PriceRazzi keeps track of consumers' everyday purchases and secures refunds via retailers' price protection/matching policies via an advanced search algorithm. "The users in our beta test received an average of $100 back on their purchases," said McDonald.

Sightline Innovation is an emerging Winnipeg-based artificial intelligence services company specializing in advanced quality inspection and data analytics servicing multiple industries, from healthcare to manufacturing. The companies' cutting age technologies are beginning to transform a number of industrial processes, particularly in advanced inspection systems and learning-powered medical decision-making.

"It's an experience that's beyond valuable. You meet so many people and you learn things. I thought it was just a case of making shortbread and selling it … but there are so many different aspects of the business that I didn't know. I've learned a whole lot more in the past couple days and hopefully, with the contacts I've made at the Boot Camp, things will get a lot easier."Andrew Maxwell, Founder of Scruffy's Shortbread
