New Startup Ventures Legal Clinic provides free legal advice weekly

Marcel A. Desautels Centre


The Marcel A. Desautels Centre at the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba has created a new program to provide complimentary legal advice for early stage ventures. The Clinic will host office hours weekly where third year law students, with support from lawyers at Pitblado LLP and Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP, will provide advice and assistance on a range of legal issues faced by startup entrepreneurs, including:

Dealing with prior obligations
Company formation
Transferring intellectual property (IP) to the company
Issuing founder shares
Vesting agreements
Employment
Non-disclosure and other startup legal agreements
IP protection
Basics of capital formation and exit strategies

Another Launch'Pad Startup Skills cohort off to the races

On Dec. 6, 2015 at Sports Manitoba, 13 more Manitoba startup entrepreneurs, including seven TechFutures grant winners learned about what they're in for as startup founders and what they need to accomplish to take their businesses to the next level. Many of the participants left the Workshop excited for the Launch'Pad Startup Skills Bootcamp taking place on May 13 to 16, 2016. Not ready for the intensive 3.5 day Bootcamp?
