Boot Camps help entrepreneurs see beyond their rural roots
Three rural-based entrepreneurs are seeing promising results from lessons learned through their participation in last year's Westman Entrepreneur Boot Camp held in Brandon. They all urge other rural entepreneurs to attend upcoming boot camps in Brandon (Westman Entrepreneur Bootcamp) and Morden-Winkler (Pembina Valley Entrepreneur Bootcamp).
The right advice at the right time
Feedback received during the Boot Camp was transformative for all companies, especially for Freeman-Campbell who had planned to franchise her concept. "Randy didn't hold any punches. He felt I should retain full control because the secret sauce to my business really is me," she said. "Then I was asked to think about how the business would continue if, for instance, I got hit by a bus." Read on... >
Taking it to the next level
Daughter on Call, Green Aero Tech and Allen Leigh have all had their eyes opened to the potential of what they can achieve by taking their businesses beyond the local market.
Genik said that discussions with Boot Camp mentors have taught him how to look at relationships and be open to the idea that innovation is not going to be 100 per cent driven just by his own people. "We'll need to be open to other help, including strategic partners that can assist us in taking the business to the next level." Read on... >

The inaugural Pembina Valley Entrepreneur Boot Camp, is April 4 & 5, in Morden-Winkler.
The Westman Entrepreneur Boot Camp takes place on April 6 & 7, in Brandon. Both provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to enhance their business skills, learn how to pitch their business idea and compete for cash prizes.
