Dear Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Member,

I honestly can’t believe we’ve been in this for six months. Since the first COVID-19 case in Manitoba, life sure has changed. You’ve adapted, innovated, changed your business model, worked so many long days and just kept figuring it out. Thank YOU! When I joined the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ in late 2018, I couldn’t have imagined the sleepless nights and hard work that lay ahead but I am so proud of our team. We have found a renewed sense of purpose through the pandemic and our focus remains on finding ways to support you and continue the progress we’ve seen downtown. And if you ever need a boost give Petula Clark’s song “Downtown” from 1964 a listen. It works for me every single time.

While I know it may not always be easy to find a few minutes in your day to take a survey I’d like to ask a favour to try and squeeze this one in! The six-month mark is a critical time with many people still working from home. Surveys help us better understand your priorities and make decisions on how to best support you. Past survey results helped us develop the micro-grant program that supported over 50 small businesses; they helped us create the new #OpenwithCare toolkits and campaign; and they continue to support our advocacy work with all levels of government. The data we collect through surveys helps ensure our efforts are aligned with your needs.

Installing Plexiglas in your business is a great way to help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
