Downtown Winnipeg BIZ: Memo - The latest information for BIZ Members

Dear Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Member,

This afternoon, Manitoba’s Chief Public Health Officer announced that Winnipeg and surrounding municipalities will move to Code Orange restrictions as of Monday, September 28 in an effort to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases in the Winnipeg Health Region.

Starting Monday, masks will be mandatory in all indoor public spaces.

Here is the information you need to know to continue to operate within the Provincial guidelines:

  • Masks will be mandatory in all indoor public spaces.
  • For restaurants and bars, staff and guests must wear masks at all times except when seated.
  • There are no changes to occupancy level restrictions for businesses.
  • Public gatherings will be restricted to 10 people, both indoors and outdoors.

These restrictions will be effective for a minimum of four weeks. Public health officials can provide further direction or increase restrictions at any time.

Government and public health officials are consulting with members of the restaurant industry as well as bars, beverage rooms, brew pubs, microbreweries and distilleries on other steps that could help lower the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Additional measures may be put in place following these consultations.

We will share additional information with you as it becomes available.

The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ is here to support you in showing the public that downtown businesses are following provincial health and safety guidelines and that they’re operating safely.

If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
