Ramp Up Weekend Recap: Pitch'Day winner Chris Karasewich chalks up another win
Ramp Up Weekend 6 presented by Innovate Manitoba provided some clear examples of Winnipeg's rapidly evolving startup prowess with young, but increasingly seasoned entrepreneurs taking first and second place (receiving cash and a TechFutures grant) after building their businesses in 55 hours. Minister Kevin Chief was on hand to celebrate and acknowledge the rapidly developing community of resources in Innovation Alley.

Entrepreneurs geared up and ready to accelerate after Pitch'Day
Innovate Manitoba's third annual Pitch'Day drew its largest attendance yet with some 200 students, innovators, investors and business leaders gathered together to cheer on and challenge the 20 startups selected to pitch their business ideas. First place and $7,500 went to Chris Karasewich with Cattle Track.

TechFutures provides financial assistance, lean startup training, and business counselling to selected young entrepreneurs.
This new program is targeted to entreprenurs between the ages of 18 and 34 that are seeking to commercialize a technology-driven business idea. The first application period is Dec. 1 - 31, 2014. Two grants have already been awarded to first and second place of Ramp Up Weekend and with 18 grants still available, your business could be next.

Farmers Edge, an early-stage Manitoba precision agriculture and independent data management solutions company and former Venture'Challenge participant, has received a major investment from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), a VC firm that has backed over 500 ventures, including AOL, Amazon.com, Google, Electronic Arts and more.
