National Coaches Week Septebmer 22-30, 2018

September 22-30, 2018 is National Coaches Week, a time to celebrate the tremendous positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities across Canada. It's an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play by simply saying #ThanksCoach. To celebrate in Manitoba, we've scheduled over 15 events – including two Sport Manitoba Training Days – across the province.

Every month, in partnership with Global News Winnipeg, we recognize Manitoba’s outstanding coaches. Nominations are accepted for coaches at all levels of sport (grassroots through high performance) who make extraordinary contributions to sport and athlete development. Deadline for nominations is the 25th of each month.

• Nominees must be actively coaching in Manitoba and must have completed at least one component of the National Coaching Certification program, and consent to disclose information on the nomination form to Global News Winnipeg
• Family members are not eligible to nominate coaches

Hockey Coach Scholarship

The Fleming Family Hockey Coach Scholarship supported by Jennifer Fleming

The Fleming Family Hockey Coach Scholarship supported by Jennifer Fleming is presented annually to a student(s) who demonstrates a commitment to coaching hockey in Manitoba. The goal is to encourage students to continue coaching hockey while attending a post-secondary institution and beyond.

Training Days are inclusive sport development days that unite coach education and training sessions, athlete testing combines, sport showcases, keynote speakers, and so much more into one full day, or weekend of activities. Training Days are open to athletes aged 12+, coaches, team management staff/volunteers, and parents.

Masters sport is booming, and older athletes are seeking coaching guidance as they strive to learn new skills, improve their performance, or compete successfully. Coaching Masters Athletes, a new NCCP resource now available for coaches, offers an exciting opportunity for all coaches to have a positive impact on the lives of adults who want to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, and on society by encouraging more adults to be active.

Athlete Testing Combines

Combines are one-stop-shops to get all of your athletes' pre, mid, and post-season testing completed in one quick session and receive instant results.

Athletes will run through upper and lower body power and strength tests, as well as speed, agility, and quickness drills.

Combines are open to all athletes, from all sports and levels to challenge themselves in a fun testing environment. Get testing done for your entire team efficiently at low cost, and have their results reviewed by our Sport Performance Specialists.

Sport LeadHERship

Sport Manitoba's first-ever Sport LeadHERship Conference aims to educate leaders so they can help women and girls reach their full potential regarding their physical activity and sport. We hope to provide a fun, comfortable, and inspirational environment where participants can gain knowledge and resources to help empower them in their careers, as well as all the girls they encounter.

Highlights include:
• Keynote sessions with Manitoba Olympians Susan Auch, Jill Officer, and Bailey Bram
• Sessions with sport management professionals Donna Harris, Bill Johnson, Megan Foster, and Carolyn Trono
• Optional professional development sessions
