Another Venture'Challenge Winner is Solving a Global Problem
2011 Venture'Challenge winner HD Petroleum is yet another company that has come through Innovate Manitoba's program with plans of changing the world.
The company is well on its way. Its small-scale micro-refinery approach to converting waste motor oil into consumable diesel fuel is resonating with customers globally. Sales have significantly eclipsed president and CEO's early projections of $25 million.
The company has raised close to $14 million through four rounds of debt and equity financing that has gone toward research and development, engineering, and building of the company's first commercial unit. The RG1 micro-refinery is set to be commissioned later this year. Habicht points out that 100 per cent of the equity dollars are Manitoba-based and that the latest round came entirely from the company's current shareholders.
