Hard to believe it’s already May tomorrow—which means one thing: our annual Spring CleanUp is here!
We’ll be hitting the streets to spruce up our neighbourhood and I couldn’t be more excited to roll up my sleeves alongside all of you. It’s one of my favourite days of the year—seeing our community proudly come together with gloves on, garbage bags in hand, and a shared goal to make downtown clean, attractive and accessible for everyone.
Over 950 people have registered (yes, that's a new record!), reinforcing that what makes our downtown so special is the people - a vibrant and diverse makeup of business owners, employees, students, residents and community members always willing to step up and make a positive impact on our city.

Winnipeg Whiteout fever continues tonight downtown!
|

The Winnipeg Jets are in action tonight for Game 5 of the NHL Playoffs, and a win at home is a win for downtown businesses.
From the early feedback we’ve heard from most members, Games 1 and 2 brought a significant boost in foot traffic. Some have reported double the usual sales compared to a regular game night without the Whiteout festivities — incredible!
It really is an “all hands-on deck” effort from our team here at the BIZ. We’re pushing your Whiteout promotions across our website and socials and teaming up with partners and the media to amplify the message even further. On the ground, our Wawanesa Enviro Team and Downtown Ambassadors are out in full force — keeping the streets clean and providing a supportive presence throughout the celebrations.
Let’s keep the momentum going for Game 5 tonight. Go Jets Go!

BIZ member takes home prestigious award

Congratulations to Thomas Hinds Sampling Room and Tobacconist for taking home the prestigious “Cigar Bar of the Year” Award at the Premium Cigar Association’s Best of the Leaf Awards in New Orleans! It's so exciting to see a business in downtown Winnipeg get this kind of recognition on the international stage.
Since the grand opening of the newly built Sampling Room in May 2022, Thomas Hinds has offered a fully licensed space for guests to enjoy premium cigars and pipes, alongside elegant drinks and light snacks. Robert Schellenberg and his team have brought something truly unique to our neighbourhood and are always supporting and cheering on the downtown business community.
