At the AGM last month, we shared the Downtown BIZ’s plans for the upcoming year. If you missed it, we shared that we’ll continue to focus on downtown recovery, while working towards a new downtown vision.

To help guide our work next year, we are asking members about your priorities. Please fill out a 5-10 minute survey to help us understand your needs. Please fill out the survey by Friday, Dec. 16.

As a thank you for your time and feedback, everyone who fills out the survey will be entered to win a Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Gift Card, redeemable at nearly 200 downtown Winnipeg businesses.

If you require assistance filling out the survey, email info@downtownwinnipegbiz.com.

Back Downtown campaign launched
Back Downtown

As part of the Downtown Recovery Strategy, we’ve launched a marketing campaign with our partners to invite individuals, families, entrepreneurs and established companies to find their way back downtown.

The Back Downtown campaign includes multimedia advertising and interactive elements to encourage people to visit both familiar and new places downtown.

We encourage you to lean into the campaign and showcase your business while using the hashtag, #backdowntownwpg. There’s more to come with graphics and additional assets coming for members to share!

Accommodating guests with guide dogs and other accessibility needs

Downtown Winnipeg is an inclusive and welcoming space for all – including support animals as well as guide dogs who assist the visually impaired. By law, organizations must welcome people with service animals, in addition to other barrier-free customer service standards. Staff should be trained on accessible customer service.

In 2013, the Accessibility for Manitoban Act (AMA) became law, with the legislation providing a process to remove barriers affecting people with disabilities. Learn more about the AMA.

If you’d like more information for your employees, the Vision Impaired Resource Network offers public education presentation. Contact info@virn.ca for more information.
