Downtown Winnipeg BIZ: Memo - The latest information for BIZ Members

Winter Wanderland lives on...until the ice melts!
Winter Wanderland

Thank you for making #WanderlandWpg a memorable one! Throughout the 10 days of programming and activations, we increased the number of visitors downtown as we work together to promote a downtown full of people that drives economic activity.

Winter Wanderland in numbers:

  • Sold out 12 guided fat bike tours with Kendrick’s Outdoor Adventures. As the week went on, we added more slots to fill demand for the experience that included stops at downtown restaurants, shops and services.

  • Over 300 people attended the Kickoff Party, a fun-filled night of music, dancing, and performances that lit up True North Square.

  • 10+ partners including Kendrick’s, Bentall Green Oak and True North Square vendors, Sputnik and Millennium Library helped us invite visitors back downtown.
    • 9 ice sculptors/artists, 7 ice sculptures carved and displayed across four locations.

Reviews from our tour participants:

“We don’t have a lot of money to work with, so I was thrilled when I found your tour! None of us have been on fat bikes before and have never done this type of tour so we are super excited.”

“I will certainly be going back downtown to check out some of the places that were highlighted. Maybe we can go for a walk or a coffee sometime.”

“It was so much fun and hoping to see more in the future! Love to see downtown so lively.”

Winter Wanderland is one of our initiatives that aims to rejuvenate Winnipeg’s downtown and promote it as a place where people are drawn to work, live, shop, and explore.
