Downtown Winnipeg BIZ: Memo - The latest information for BIZ Members

Downtown set to welcome winter with #WanderlandWpg
Winter Wanderland

It may feel more like spring outside, but our signature winter event is back! From February 2 to 4, Winter Wanderland will transform True North Square into a captivating display of international ice-carvings. Five teams from around the world are participating in the Winterscape International Ice Carving Competition. The activation will be complemented by additional activities in and around Hargrave Street Market over the weekend.

The finished sculptures will be on display following the weekend festivities. I encourage everyone to get outside and check out the ice sculptures, vote for your favourite in the People’s Choice Awards and enter for a chance to win a Winter Wanderland giveaway.

Winter Wanderland aims to encourage people to explore and discover something new downtown and embrace Winnipeg’s “winter city” status. With beautiful public art and exciting programming and activations, we’re aiming to boost visitation downtown and support downtown businesses.

GET READY TO WANDER THIS WINTER

Speaker Series wrap-up
Speaker Series

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the WAG-Qaumajuq on January 19, 2024 for our second Downtown Speaker Series event featuring Premier Wab Kinew.

Over 70 Downtown BIZ members and community members gathered at WAG-Qaumajuq to hear the Premier’s vision for a downtown that serves all Manitobans.

The Premier shared his desire to see more workers downtown, his government’s plans to end chronic homelessness and how critical downtown is for the success of our entire province.

Stay tuned for information on our next Downtown Speaker Series event in the spring.
