Storefront Manitoba’s Table for 1200 Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Dinner Downtown
Table for 1200

Every year, Storefront Manitoba’s Table for 1200 brings together architecture, design, and culinary arts to create a unique 'pop-up' outdoor dining experience with the goal to raise awareness about the value of architecture, design, and urbanism. There’s always anticipation and excitement around the secret location, and we were thrilled that an iconic downtown street – Broadway – was chosen as the site of this year’s 10th anniversary event!

Joined by members of our Board and Senior Management Team and staff, we had the opportunity to discuss the importance of urban design and creating unique, accessible and inclusive places for people.

While it was a chilly night, there was a great sense of warmth and community! Special thanks to Mayor Scott Gillingham for snapping the above photo of our BIZ team.

Economic Development Winnipeg Celebrates 2023 Achievements at Annual General Meeting
Video

I always get fired up when I hear decision-makers speak strongly about the importance of our downtown and its impact on the growth and success of our city and province.

Two weeks ago I attended Economic Development Winnipeg’s AGM where EDW’s President & CEO, Ryan Kuffner hosted a fireside chat with Premier Wab Kinew and Mayor Scott Gillingham. Their discussion focused on the future of economic development in Winnipeg, stressing collaboration is key to that success.

Both Premier Kinew and Mayor Gillingham were asked how government, the private sector and non-profits can work together to strengthen and revitalize our downtown, and what success looks like for them. Their answers were powerful and encouraging, and I look forward to continuing to work with our partners to build on that momentum and pride in our downtown neighborhood.

I encourage you to watch the video and I want to thank EDW for inviting our team to attend their AGM. Congratulations on your success in 2023, and here’s to working together in 2024 and beyond to build a strong future for Winnipeg.

Supporting an Inclusive Downtown Community
Pride

Pride Winnipeg celebrated its largest Pride Parade in history, with 10,000 people marching through downtown in solidarity! Our BIZ team had a blast participating in the Parade, showcasing our commitment to building strong relationships with the 2SLGBTQ+ community, being an ally and promoting a vibrant and inclusive downtown.

Thank you to all our downtown businesses and organizations that helped create a safe and welcoming space for everyone throughout the 2024 Pride Winnipeg Festival. Let’s carry this spirit of inclusivity beyond Pride Week and into our everyday lives. Together, we can ensure downtown remains a place where everyone feels welcome, safe and celebrated.
