As our downtown continues to transform, we are seeing social and economic reconciliation in action. Our team is deeply committed to doing our part as an ally and a leader, and we are proud to work with our partners – both Indigenous and non-Indigenous – to build a more vibrant and inclusive downtown for everyone.
As part of our reconciliation journey, we are seeking a Director of Indigenous Relations, Diversity and Inclusion to guide the implementation of our Indigenous Relations Strategy, build meaningful relationships and help create lasting change in our downtown.
This new and important role is a long time coming and I encourage you to share the job posting with your networks and community.

What’s next for CentrePlan 2050?
|
|
|
There has been a lot of discussion and excitement around CentrePlan 2050, the City’s long-term plan that will guide investment and development in downtown Winnipeg for the next 30 years.
Our team is encouraged to see a plan that recognizes the importance of moving our downtown forward - a plan that focuses on people and growing the residential population, while also creating more green spaces.
Of course, I recognize with any changes there are some concerns to be considered and we will continue to work with the city to help mitigate some of those challenges for any businesses impacted.
Now, you might be asking, ‘what’s next?’.
The city has released its latest public engagement feedback and has prepared a report that will be presented to the Standing Policy Committee on Property and Development at City Hall on July 4. Our team is currently assessing this report and I look forward to sharing our recommendations to the Committee and moving this project forward.
I encourage members to take part in the upcoming public hearing process:
Committee Meeting Date: July 4, 2024
Open to: All members of the public
How to Participate:
- Submit your comments in writing.
- Register to speak at the hearing.
Due date: July 3, 2024 at 12 p.m. CDT
