Dear Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Member,

Changes to the public health orders announced Friday

As of Friday, Sept. 3, individuals must be fully immunized to participate in the following:

  • Indoor and outdoor ticketed sporting events and concerts.

  • Indoor theatre/dance/symphony events.

  • Restaurants (indoor and patio dining).

  • Nightclubs and all other licensed premises.

  • Casinos, bingo halls and VLT lounges.

  • Movie theatres.

  • Fitness centres, gyms and indoor sporting and recreational facilities (excluding youth recreational sport).

  • Organized indoor group recreational classes and activities, and indoor recreational businesses.

Children 11 and under who are not eligible to be immunized will be able to attend events and activities with a fully immunized adult.

The Province also recommends that private businesses and organizations follow the province’s lead and consider mandating COVID-19 vaccination for their employees.

The Manitoba government did not give an expiration date for these orders. For more information, read the Province’s Aug. 27 news release.

Workspace Mockup

On Sept. 8 a new workspace aims to bring more people downtown

You may have noticed bright colours in the parking lot next to Capital Broadway and Union Centre at 275 Broadway. Let us introduce you to RE: Workspace, a new outdoor office concept, opening to the public on Sept. 8.

RE: Workspace is an outdoor space equip with free WiFi and a reservation system. It’s designed to encourage students and workers to spend time downtown, especially if they’ve been working remotely for the last 18 months. The space will give individuals a place to focus or allow groups to hold a meeting in a safe and productive environment.

Once RE: Workspace opens, we will be sharing a map of restaurants & coffee shops within a five-minute walk, and encouraging folks to stop at downtown businesses while they’re here.

RE: Workspace will be open until it gets cold outside. Join the conversation on social media by using #REWorkspaceWPG and #FindItDowntown.
