Downtown Winnipeg BIZ: Memo - The latest information for BIZ Members

Dear Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Member,

Protest update

On February 22, the Winnipeg Police Service said they delivered a letter to protest organizers stating all protesters must remove all vehicles, tractors, trailers and other structures from the area of Broadway and Memorial by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23.

By 8 a.m., Feb. 23, our staff noticed several of the vehicles had already vacated the area.

Whatever happens at the legislature in the coming days and whatever actions you take to keep yourself, your employees and your customers safe under the new guidelines, we’re here to support you.

For more information, read the Winnipeg Police Service announcement.

Manitoba Chambers of Commerce Digital Manitoba applications now open

The Manitoba government partnered with the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) to deliver a new grant, announced late last year, to help businesses and non-profit organizations adopt digital technology.

The fund consists of two streams designed to support projects that are immediately actionable:

  1. TechUP: if you have business expenses for upgrading digital assets and technological tools such as developing an e-commerce website, investing in advanced software and more, this stream is for you. It also applies if you are planning to adopt new digital assets in the next 30 days.

  2. PowerUP: if your business is looking to invest in strategic projects requiring 90 days or less, you are encouraged to apply for the PowerUp program. Examples include evolving business models, improving processes and operations, improving client/customer experience and increasing productivity.

To qualify, organizations must be a Manitoba-based business or not-for-profit, with a valid Manitoba business number, in good standing with the Companies Office.

Apply now for the Digital Manitoba Initiative.
